The larger-than-life London-based stand-up comedian, improviser and actress has had her debut and follow-up tours described by The Guardian as one of “the biggest stand up hits of the decade”
So no pressure then for Luisa Omelian’s debut What Would Beyoncé Do and follow up Am I Right Ladies?! described as a booty shaking, confessional and self-empowerment seminar.
What Would Beyoncé Do had five sell-out runs at the Soho Theatre, two sell-out Edinburgh Fringe’s, and sell-out runs in LA, New York and Singapore.
The shows are very much from the heart, and excruciatingly observational at the best of times. Defintely one for the ladies, and for any man who has always pondered over the mystery that is “woman stuff” and what it actually entails.
Omelian is performing shows in Hull, Manchester, London and Cardiff this Autumn.
The cute, slight and often be-hoodied Hull lass has slowly but surely made a name for herself over the past few years, bagging herself the BBC New Comedy Award in 2012 and getting shortlisted for Best Newcomer for the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2013.
Now living in Surrey with fellow comedian Jon Richardson, her new Edinburgh show We Can Twerk It Out is a biographical journey of the last three years of her gigging life.
For her first gig she did a five minute stand up slot in London, and despite her crippling nerves, when she walked up to the mic and went to speak, a car horn sounded at the very second she opened her mouth, which earned Lucy her first round of applause. Since then, her career has been on the up and she’s been credited for her impeccable timing.
She will be performing We Can Twerk It Out in Scunthorpe, Edinburgh and North Yorkshire this Autumn.
