Love art? Bake art!
That’s the vibe from the cake bakin’ lovers who are aiming to raise some dough (sorry) for the Art Fund.
February saw the kick-off of a wonderful project that aims to get cookers cooking art inspired pieces.
We’ve been given some initial examples that have been jam-packed (sorry) with inspiration from pieces by Damien Hirst, Van Gogh, Dutch painter Piet Mondrian, Jackson Pollock, Sarah Lucas, and even Wedgewood, the crockery folk!
The project encourages folk to raise money for Britain’s museums and galleries while having a barrel of fun at the same time, with the main event happening on 9th May. Be it by holding a cake sale, raffling off the freshly baked treats or even holding a private viewing… as long as it’s with a “Save our Galleries” attitude, anything goes.
The initiative, entitled Edible Masterpieces even gives you recipe ideas and fundraising packs to help you on your way.
…and for the top 25 fundraisers, a chance to win a range of prizes from a short break for two; an iPad mini; vouchers, or tickets to a London blockbuster exhibition are all in the [sweetie]* store and up for grabs.
So get involved, have some fun baking and making money for an important cultural cause, and be sure to upload your masterpieces to Instagram, Facebook or Twitter with the hashtag #ediblemasterpieces
*ok we’ll stop now, we’re clearly running out of ideas
